Sealing ring

The high pressure liquid flowing out of the impeller through the rotating impeller and the clearance between the gear pump shell and the impeller suction population, known as the internal leakage.

In order to reduce internal leakage, the clearance should be smaller.

Therefore, a pair of sealing rings (also known as grinding ring, mouth ring, clamp, etc.) are generally installed at the front cover of the pump shell and impeller in this part to ensure the minimum clearance between the impeller and the pump shell and reduce the internal leakage.

When the pump is running for a period of time, the sealing ring is worn out and the gap is too large, the worn sealing ring can be removed and replaced with a new pair.

Seal rings can be divided into flat ring type, Angle ring type, zigzag type and labyrinth type according to the shape of their axial section, as shown in Fig. 6-11.

Flat ring type and Angle ring type are widely used in general centrifugal pumps because of their simple structure, convenient processing and disassembly.

Serrated or labyrinth type sealing effect is good, generally used in high pressure centrifugal pump.
